Diamond sales up as GAMA reports overall decline in piston aircraft sales

Diamond Aircraft reports strong year-over-year sales growth of 17%, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) numbers released last week, in a piston market down by 11% over the same time period. Deliveries of both the DA40 Diamond Star and the DA42 Twin Star were up by double digits.

“We believe that our strength in this weaker piston market is due to the unique positioning of our brand and family of aircraft. Diamond defines innovation and good fuel economy, and offers an exciting line of aircraft, making it easy for our customers to start out with a DA40, the best first aircraft, and move up our line all the way to the D-JET," explains Heike Larson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing."We also see more and more flight training organizations take advantage of our line-up, which enables them to achieve fleet consistency with modern, fuel-efficient aircraft, from 2-place trainers to light twins, including type-specific Flight Training Devices, offered by our sister company, Diamond Simulation.”
