Oct. 11/99 DA40 Passes 10,000th Landing In BETA (Best Tested Aircraft) Flight Test Program Wiener Neustadt, Austria DIAMOND AIRCRAFT reports today that its new DA40-180 4-place aircraft has passed the 10,000 landing mark in its function and endurance test program. The program, called the "Beta" program for "Best Tested Aircraft", was commenced by Diamond on September 1, 1999 and is intended to prove the superior safety and reliability of this new model. During the first six weeks of the test program, the aircraft experienced very few operational problems. In over 500 hours of operation, the aircraft experienced problems with the fuel pump, a mixture control cable and several tire changes. Otherwise the aircraft has performed flawlessly as expected. The BETA test is unprecedented in this category of aircraft. It not only includes the currently running operational endurance test, but the most comprehensive safety and impact testing ever done for an aircraft in this category. The BETA program will continue through to the end of October 1999. During the final two weeks of the program in Austria, the test aircraft will be operated 24 hours around the clock. Shortly after the completion of testing in Europe, the test aircraft will be shipped to Canada where the BETA program will continue to the first engine TBO. The DA40 will conclude certification in early 2000 and will enter production shortly thereafter. Customers for the aircraft can be confident of the aircraft's safety and reliability.
