Passive safety features such as aluminum fuel cells protected by the DA40's dual carbon fibre spars help prevent post impact fires, a 26G rated safety cell cockpit, airbag seatbelts and a host of other built in features help keep you safe should the unexpected happen. As a result, the DA40 line has accumulated a safety record of only about 1 fatal accident per 1,000 aircraft-years - the best in the industry, and a record over 3 times safer than that of some competing composite aircraft.
